Nimrod in the snow
Nimrod in the snow pencil print
BAe Nimrod MR2 of 201 Squadron based at RAF Kinloss in Moray.
Developed originally by Hawker Siddeley, the Nimrod was an extensive modification of the de Havilland Comet, the World’s first operational jet airliner.
The Nimrod was the RAF’s principle maritime patrol and anti-submarine warfare aircraft from its introduction in the early 1970s,
replacing the aging fleet of Avro Shackletons, to its retirement in 2010. This particular aircraft, XV250, is now on display at the Yorkshire Air Museum at Elvington.
